Former Jerusalem mayor

Former Jerusalem mayor, Mr Uri Lupolianski, has been accused of accepting bribes of between NIS 2 million and NIS 2.5 million (US$600,000) in return for ensuring that a construction project, the Holyland project, was approved and hastened regardless of any legal obstacles.

It is claimed that a representative of businessman and Holyland Corporation owner Mr Hillel Cherny agreed to pay donations to a charitable medical organisation which Mr Lupolianski had funded.

Allegations of corruption have also been levied against former prime minister, Mr Ehud Olmert, former chief engineer, Mr Uri Sheetrit, former Bank Hapoalim CEO Mr Dan Dankner and 12 other defendants.
