De Blasio Administration Unveils Women.NYC, New Platform Dedicated to Helping Women Succeed

This week, the de Blasio Administration, represented by New York City’s First Lady Chirlane McCray and Deputy Mayor of Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen, launched Women.NYC, an initiative to address gender disparity in the city’s workforce. The Women.NYC platform includes a website to serve as a portal for information on key topics and services, and will coincide with a citywide marketing campaign. Mayor de Blasio Announces First-In-Nation Task Force To Examine Automated Decision Systems Used By The City

The de Blasio Administration also announced the creation of a task force to examine how the city uses algorithms. The “Automated Decision Systems Task Force” will then develop a process a to ensure equity, fairness and accountability in algorithmic tools. The task force was mandated through legislation passed in the City Council last December. Emily Newman, the Acting Director of the Mayor’s Office of Operations and Brittny Saunders, Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Initiatives at the Commission on Human Rights will co-chair the task force.
