It is being reported that the extension  of flexible working to those with 26  weeks’ service – which the  Government had previously  announced would take place on  6 April – is being postponed, due to  a delay in the passing of the Children  and Families Bill. A new date has not  yet been given. Acas has responded  to its consultation on a draft Code  of Practice for Handling Requests  to Work Flexibly in a Reasonable  Manner and has removed the  suggestion that employers should  approach requests from the  presumption that they would be  granted. Acas has also published a  good practice guide to supplement  the Code.
