Texas Governor Perry issued a press release urging the EPA not to establish a regulatory scheme for greenhouse gases because the regulations could have a devastating effect on the Texas energy business. He noted that increased regulations will affect not only energy producers but also commercial buildings, churches, small farms, hotels, hospitals and even residential homes. The Governor stated that making alternative energy technologies less expensive and encouraging their use is preferable to making traditional energy sources more expensive. Perry points out that Texas has taken an active role in the installation of wind power facilities and associated transmission lines. He wants the EPA to find ways to ``unleash our economy`` rather than ``strangle`` it with regulations.
