Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler is following the lead of California and has formed an Internet Privacy Unit to monitor businesses and ensure their compliance with state and federal consumer protection laws regarding consumer data privacy and security and “will also examine weaknesses in online privacy policies.” See Last month, California’s Attorney General promulgated recommendations for mobile privacy and practices and brought its first enforcement action against a company that failed to post a privacy policy on its mobile app. Click here for more information on that. Gansler is the president of the National Association of Attorneys General and has said that digital privacy will be his main initiative for that group. See
