Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler is following the lead of California and has formed an Internet Privacy Unit to monitor businesses and ensure their compliance with state and federal consumer protection laws regarding consumer data privacy and security and “will also examine weaknesses in online privacy policies.” See http://www.oag.state.md.us/Press/2013/012813.html.
