From October 2011, new company charges against company assets will no longer be required to be lodged with ASIC.  They will instead need to be recorded on the Personal Property Securities (PPS) Register, to be managed by the Insolvency and Trustee Services Australia.

Registration of existing charges currently recorded on ASIC's Register of Company Charges will be moved to the new PPS Register in October 2011.

Companies need to be aware of the new PPS Register system, which will put in place a single federal register that will record security interests (which is very broadly defined) over all types of personal property.
