The Environmental Protection Agency announced May 4 that it would extend until June 25 the comment period for its greenhouse gas emissions rule for new power plants. In the same Federal Register notice, it scheduled two public hearings on the rule for May 24, in Washington, D.C., and Chicago. The agency published its New Source Performance Standards, which would limit new fossil fuel-fired power plants with a generating capacity greater than 25 MW to 1,000 pounds of CO@ per MWh, on April 13.
