UK businesses can now apply for financial assistance towards purchasing green equipment. With the help of Nabarro, a joint fund worth £550m has been established by Siemens and the Carbon Trust, with Siemens providing the financial backing and the Carbon Trust using its expertise in carbon savings from energy efficient technologies to assess applicant projects. The fund claims that this setup should mean that the scheme is self-sufficient through energy savings and will come at no net cost to the customer. It will enable UK businesses to invest in cost-effective energy efficiency equipment and other low carbon technologies such as efficient lighting and biomass heating.
