At the conclusion of the two-day meeting of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate April 27, U.S. and EU climate change officials said that it is unlikely that a new climate change treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol will be agreed to be the end of the year. This year’s U.N. climate change summit will take place November 28-December 9 in Durban, South Africa, and the Obama administration is hopeful that officials will progress on commitments agreed to at the 2010 COP in Cancun, including a pledge for a Green Climate Fund.
