In preparation for the abolition of DB contracting out, HMRC is extending the GMP reconciliation service. Previously this has only been available to schemes which were winding up.

The service allows pension schemes to reconcile the membership and GMP data held on their scheme records against HMRC records. HMRC will provide access to its data through Shared Workspace.

This will be of relevance to administrators and trustees of occupational schemes with historic GMP liabilities. Requests for data can be made now, although HMRC will not provide the data until April 2014.
