Following agreement between employers and trade unions at a European level in 2007, a new guide entitled Preventing Workplace Harassment and Violence was launched on 17 November 2009. Representing an unprecedented collaboration between the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the Partnership of Public Employers (PPE) and the Trades Union Congress (TUC), the guidance is targeted at both employers and employees. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), and the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) also offered their support to the initiative.
The aim is to help employers understand their obligations and assess risks, whilst assisting employees to be aware of their rights to ensure they are adequately protected.
