Today, President Obama nominated Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke to a second term as Chairman, subject to confirmation by the U.S. Senate. In his remarks, President Obama noted that for almost the past two years, Mr. Bernanke and the Federal Reserve have been at the forefront of responding to one of the worst economic recessions since the Great Depression, having been instrumental in participating in various rescue efforts of financial institutions, stimulus programs to promote economic liquidity, as well as proposing and implementing policy and regulatory overhaul.
