On 9 April 2014, the ACCC granted a 10-year authorisation to Victoria’s electricity distributors (Powercor, Citipower, Jemena, SPI Electricity and United Energy Distribution) to maintain an accreditation scheme for civil contractors for underground civil works on electrical infrastructure.  This confirms the draft determination by the ACCC issued on 12 March 2014.

The ACCC considered that the single joint accreditation scheme is likely to continue to reduce contractors’ compliance costs, compared with complying with potentially varying standards across each distribution business.
