Record £23 million damages paid in a RTA claim.
The Claimant, who at the time of the accident was 14 years of age, suffered multiple injuries in a road traffic accident.
She was left paralysed in all four limbs by spinal injuries when her family’s car was forced into the path of a lorry when the Defendant’s vehicle pulled out of a side road on to an A road.
The Claimant’s injuries were classified as being the highest level of severity.
Liability was admitted.
The claim was settled out of Court. It is reported as being the biggest payment ever awarded in a personal injury claim.
The Claimant received £7.5 million lump sum and index-linked tax free payments of £270,000 per year. With a normal life expectancy this would total £23 million.
