• Under the new R&D Tax Incentive, R&D expenditure on certain activities conducted in an overseas jurisdiction may be eligible for an R&D tax offset, if an ‘overseas finding’ is approved by AusIndustry. For businesses wishing to claim an R&D tax offset for expenditure on overseas activities conducted during the 2013 financial year, an ‘Overseas Finding’ application must be lodged with AusIndustry prior to 30 June 2013.
  • For businesses that have incurred R&D expenditure with respect to an associate during the 2013 financial year, in order to claim such expenditure as part of an R&D tax offset claim, the associated expenditure must be ‘paid’ by the end of the claim year. Any claimant looking to include a payment to an associate as part of an R&D claim should ensure these amounts are actually paid prior to 30 June 2013.
