On August 31, 2010, the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service announced that it will charge a US$150 license fee for the importation of dairy articles subject to tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) during the 2011 calendar year. The purpose of the fee is to help defray administration costs associated with the licensing system. Administration of the licensing system for 2011 is estimated to cost US$333,000. This cost estimate is based on the expectation that the USDA will issue 2,300 licenses.
