The effective date of the revised Form I-9 has been changed to April 3, 2009, rather than the earlier date of February 2, 2009. As of April 3, 2009, employers must use the revised Form I-9 for all new hires and current employees requiring reverification of their employment eligibility. The current edition of the Form I-9, dated June 5, 2007, will no longer be valid for use as of that date. Employers who continue to use the June 5, 2007 edition of the Form I-9 on or after April 3, 2009 may be subject to civil money penalties. The revised Form I-9 is available on our website and also on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website.
