ESMA has reported to the Commission on the methods of raising fees from CRAs. Most respondents to ESMA's consultation supported a periodic supervisory fee. ESMA thinks it is necessary to set a minimum fee but would not set a maximum, and noted concerns at whether large CRAs would be subsidising smaller ones. It says it is important to charge proportionately. ESMA also suggests a flat fee for certification applications and a banded range of registration fees. Its advice includes detail on the basis for fee calculation where fees are variable. (Source: ESMA Final Report to Commission on CRA Fees)
