The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has released its latest e-newsletter which gives its views on certain AML/CFT deficiencies in Japan and Mexico. It notes that the terrorist financing offence in Japan is not comprehensive in its coverage. Monitoring and enforcement also needs improvement with few inspections being carried out in financial institutions other than banks. In Mexico, the laws criminalising money laundering and terrorist financing do not fully meet international standards.
