The Privacy Authority has sanctioned the Italian subsidiary of BT plc with over €75.000 for alleged violation of Article 164 of the Privacy Code, on use of private data for unsolicited activation of commercial services. The sanction follows a prior injunction of payment of a reduced sum issued by the same Authority to the operator which remained unanswered. The Privacy Authority has highlighted once again the obligation of operators in dealing with private data.
