ATLANTA—Womble Carlyle attorney Brent Clinkscale will help lead the 6th Annual Conference of the Atlanta International Arbitration Society (AtlAS). The theme of the conference is “Resolving Cross-Border Business Disputes in an Age of Receding Globalism.”

Clinkscale is organizing and directing the moderators and reporters for the conference’s Tertulia Roundtable sessions. The topics of these sessions will be:

  • Transparency, Privacy and Confidentiality in International Arbitration
  • Party selection of Arbitrators Versus Institutional Selection in International Arbitration
  • The “Americanization” of International Arbitration? Discovery? Advocacy Styles?
  • The impact of Gender Diversity in International Arbitration.

Clinkscale and other Tertulia session participants also will report their findings to the conference.

Brent Clinkscale is a veteran litigator and advocate in both trials and arbitrations and has tried numerous cases in both federal and state courts. Clinkscale’s concentration is in business litigation, including both domestic and international arbitrations. He is a partner in Womble Carlyle’s Greenville, S.C. office. He serves on the AtlAS Executive Committee of and is a member of the consulting group for the American Law Institute Restatement of the U.S. Law on International Commercial Arbitration. Also as a member of the International Arbitration Committee of the ABA Section of International Law, Clinkscale is serving as co-editor for the Committee’s 2018 newsletter which will be a series of articles on the impact of the Restatement of the US Law on International Commercial Arbitration.
