Proposed amendments to the FA’s rules on gambling (previously reported here) have now been ratified by its shareholders.

The new rules will come into force from 1 August 2014, and will prevent any participants in the Premier League, Football League, Football Conference levels and the top two divisions of each of the Northern, Southern and Isthmian leagues from betting on any football match or competition that takes place anywhere in the world.

The new rules also impose a global ban on betting on any other “football-related matter” such as the transfer of players, employment of managers and team selections.
