The implementation of the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 201 - (the "Law") has been delayed. It may not now come into force until spring 2013 at the earliest.
The Law has been devised to establish a registration process for Jersey residents and to control and manage who may live and who may work in Jersey. It will replace the Housing (Jersey) Law 1949, the Regulation of Undertakings & Development (Jersey) Law 1973 and the Hawkers and Non-Resident Traders (Jersey) Law 1965.
The Law was adopted by the States on 6 July 2011 and is currently with the Privy Council for approval. It is anticipated that the Privy Council will consider the Law at it next meeting in October 2012. The regulations that will accompany the Law remain in draft form and still need to be lodged with the Greffier and debated in the States.
