Prior to the OAS General Assembly, which met in El Salvador in early June, Transparency International presented a series of recommendations calling for changes in order to curb corruption.

The recommendations, which cite corruption as one of the main risks to citizen security in the Americas, call for those counties within the OAS to adopt more effective mechanisms to promote transparency and higher professionalism amongst security forces, police forces, the prison systems and officials.

TI strongly believe that by implementing measures that seek to increase transparency, access to information and accountability, those nations within OAS will improve the living conditions and security of their citizens.
