On 2 June 2014, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued its Clean Power Proposal for reducing CO2 emissions from existing power plants in the USA in accordance with Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act. The agency's goal is to reduce CO2emissions from existing power plants by 30% from 2005 CO2emissions levels by 2030. Under the proposal, each state would have a different requirement for CO2 reduction to meet. The EPA has initiated a one-year comment period for the proposed regulations ending in June 2015.
