GTDT Aviation Law News’ sister publication Who’s Who Legal has published its latest directory of the world’s leading aviation lawyers, crediting Clyde & Co with the largest number of recommended practitioners across the globe.

The guide, which was published on 17 November, relies on independent research undertaken by Who’s Who Legal, a directory of the world’s best-regarded lawyers, as voted for by their peers.

The rankings highlight the strength and the breadth of the global aviation legal services market, citing over 800 aviation lawyers specialising in finance, contentious and regulatory work, across more than 300 firms in 63 different jurisdictions.

Clyde & Co boasts the most listings in the directory, with 32, spread across the guide’s dedicated regulatory, contentious and finance chapters. Of those listings, 25 lawyers are recommended for their expertise in contentious work, four are listed in aviation finance and three are noted for their experience in regulatory matters.

HFW comes second with 29 listings, closely followed by Holland & Knight with 23 recommendations, Kennedys with 19 and Norton Rose Fulbright with 18.

Clyde & Co is also recognised as the leading aviation group in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, with 25 listings in those jurisdiction, followed by a chasing pack of Norton Rose Fulbright, Kennedys and Holman Fenwick Willan.

In North America, Condon & Forsyth leads the rankings with 18 listings, with 17 lawyers recommended for their expertise in aviation litigation. Holland & Knight comes second with 17 listings in aviation finance and contentious matters, while Perkins Coie secured the third-highest number of recommendations in North America with 11 listings.

Holman Fenwick Willan and Clyde & Co are noted for their strength in Asia Pacific and Latin America, as are regional firms Norton White in Australia, Nassar Abogados in Central America, and Rodrigo Elias & Medrano Abogados and Bernardi & Schnapp Advogados in Peru and Brazil.

This year’s guide is the first standalone aviation directory published by Who’s Who Legal since 2014. Due to the increasing size and scope of the aviation market covered, Who’s Who Legal has split out WWL: Aviation from its previous WWL: Transport publication.
