One of the more interesting topics that is being discussed regularly at this year’s AILA Annual Conference is the election of a new Majority Leader for the Republicans in the House. When Eric Cantor recently lost his seat speculation began immediately over who would take his place.
The two most discussed candidates are Congressman Kevin McCarthy from California and Congressman Raul Labrador of Idaho. The decision is set to be made today in the House. Whichever direction the House decides to go it will naturally cause ripples for the immigration cause in the coming year as we continue to strive for meaningful immigration reform.
