The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Diesel School Bus Fund Retrofit Program is designed to reduce children’s exposure to diesel exhaust from school buses of model years 1994-2006. The Ohio General Assembly authorized the Ohio EPA Clean Diesel School Bus Fund Retrofit Grants Program for the 2008- 2009 budget. The program will now receive American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding.

The Ohio EPA provides grants for demonstrated successful approaches that reduce pollution from school buses. Under the program, school districts can retrofit existing school buses with pollution reducing devices or implement approaches that reduce pollution.

School districts interested in participating in the Ohio EPA Clean Diesel School Bus Fund Retrofit Program should familiarize themselves with the program and submit applications by the next application deadline, September 1, 2009.
