• On February 17, 2011, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) unveiled the first National Broadband Map. The Map provides the first public, searchable nationwide map of broadband Internet availability. NTIA issued grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to states and other jurisdictions, or their designees, to collect data for use in the Map. These grantees performed two rounds of data collection over the course of one year. NTIA plans to update the Map every six months. In conjunction with this announcement, NTIA also posted its report on Expanding Internet Usage.
