The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that it will auction more than 5,000 paging licenses in the VHF low band (35/43 MHz), VHF high band (152/158 MHz), UHF band (454/459 MHz) and 900 MHz band starting July 16, 2013.
The frequency bands are allocated for paging services, including one-way messaging, two- way messaging and fixed wireless services. However, the FCC has shown flexibility in granting waivers to utility companies and others for these frequencies to be used for other purposes, such as two-way mobile voice communications and private land mobile network operations. Companies that need additional communications capacity may wish to consider participating in this auction.
