Matthew James Swaffield Hackett, 54, faces five charges of alleged sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl.

Hackett is reported to have worked at Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club in Wallasey and Runcorn Rowing Club. He was a British Rowing umpire and volunteered as a Games Maker at the London 2012 Olympics.

Hackett, of Oxton, Wirral, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on 10 August 2017. It is reported that he did not enter any pleas but the court heard he had indicated he would be pleading not guilty to all charges. A further hearing has been set for 30 October.
