The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation announced that within a few days it is going to publish the bidding specifications for the new designs required for reconstruction of three sections of the 1856 Route, on the border with Nicaragua.
The total cost for design of 160 kilometers of road on the border will amount to $3 million. “The works still pending include the design of the road, the contention walls, the draining systems and the respective bridges”, describes an article in a local newspaper.
Pedro Castro, Minister of Public Works, said that those sections run from the Pocosol River to the vicinity of the Costa Rica delta. The purpose of the proceedings is to award the design of sections 2, 3 and 4 of the 1856 Route. The companies will be expected to start working in the zone within one month.
