According to a Notice of Data Availability (NODA), EPA is releasing revised power plant emissions projections to support a previously proposed rule that would limit the interstate transport of power plant emissions. 75 Fed. Reg. 66,055 (10/27/10). The proposed Transport Rule was published in August 2010. 75 Fed. Reg. 45,210 (8/2/10). It would limit interstate emissions of nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide from power plants.
The revised emissions projections include updated power plant emissions data for 2005, 2012 and 2014. EPA decided to release revised projections based on comments by state officials about the integrated planning model the agency used to project emissions levels for 2012. They apparently said that the results produced often exaggerated a state’s contribution to other downwind state pollution problems. EPA will accept comments on the revised data, which are available in the Transport Rule’s docket, until November 26, 2010.
