• Working Time Directive: The European Commission has confirmed that a second stage consultation with Social Partners on proposals to amend the Working Time Directive (principally in relation to the maximum 48-hour working week opt-out and on-call time) will take place this Autumn.
  • Maternity leave: The European Parliament has voted in favour of extending minimum maternity leave from 14 to 20 weeks – on full pay, with some flexibility for countries which already have a form of family-related leave. The UK Government is expected to seek to block the proposals.
