Chief Justice of Pennsylvania Ron Castille has appointed Cumberland County Judge Albert H. Masland to a statewide group, created by the Commonwealth’s Victim Advocate, examining ways to enhance restitution services, according to a statement from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.

The Restitution in Pennsylvania Task Force will look at existing restitution laws, rules, policies and processes to help facilitate reimbursements of financial losses to crime victims, and to promote increased coordination of services at the county and state levels. The work is expected to culminate in a report and recommendations for the courts, legislature, and governor.

"Pennsylvania’s court system has been focused on improving collection of fines, fees and costs for some time," Castille said in the statement. "Enhancing restitution services is important not only in and of itself, but also as a part of what we’ve been doing more broadly."
