As we have previously reported, a new business court, known as the Rolls Building, is currently being built. The new court will house the business-related divisions of the High Court, namely the Chancery Division, Admiralty and Commercial Courts, as well as the Technology and Construction, Bankruptcy and Companies Courts. The Tribunal Service will also have an office in the new building. However, it has now been announced that due to technical reasons, there is a delay on the building works and the building will not be ready for occupation until October 2011 (not 2010 as previously reported).
The new building will include 31 court rooms, 3 of which will be 'supercourt' size, 12 large and 16 standard sized court rooms. There will also be 11 hearing rooms for the Masters and Registrars, 43 judicial chambers, 54 consultation rooms, dedicated facilities for a judicial lounge and library, and improved accommodation for other staff.
