The regulatory landscape for cryptoassets is highly fragmented and inconsistent, with significant divergence between jurisdictions. The CMS Expert Guide on Crypto Regulation provides an overview of cryptoasset regulation (prior to the introduction of MiCA), focussing at this point on 28 European jurisdictions, both inside and outside the EU. We summarise the regulations applying to the main activities performed by cryptoasset service providers and the requirements of the licensing regimes, including time and cost. The aim of the Guide is to provide information that is legally accurate and a practical aid for decision-making ahead of the implementation of the forthcoming Regulation on Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA). The adoption of MiCA will be staggered, creating ongoing challenges for navigating national regulations. Please click here to access the guide. Select a jurisdiction |
