The USCIS is currently experiencing a severe backlog in receipting and inputting employment-based adjustment of status applications. Due to the fact that the USCIS received possibly hundreds of thousands of applications between July 17th and August 17th (as explained in the articles above), the USCIS is experiencing a front log in processing these applications. The USCIS is anticipating that it may take more than two months to receipt these applications. Although the USCIS may take a significant time in receipting the applications, the date of receipt as indicated on the receipt notice will be the date on which the USCIS Service Center received the properly filed application. The USCIS will not be cashing the filing fee checks until the applications are receipted into their system.
