European Union, Singapore, United Kingdom November 23 2022

By now you will be broadly familiar with the EU's Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act legislation and no doubt have also been following the ongoing saga of the UK's Online Safety Bill.

What you may not have noticed is that Singapore has now followed with amendments to its Broadcasting Act which include obligations in relation to online safety, harmful content and protection of children. The obligations apply to online communications services, initially activated for social media companies but care is needed since this carries a wide range of services including those which more broadly carry user-generated content.

We have updated our recent legislation table to include the Singapore legislation to provide a handy side by side comparison against the EU and UK equivalents.
