On March 18th, FINRA issued a regulatory notice providing a brief overview of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 ("FCPA"), which was enacted to prohibit bribery of foreign officials and restore public confidence in the integrity of the American business system. The notice also discusses the application of the anti-bribery prohibitions to FINRA member firms, and advises member firms to review their business practices to ensure that they are complying with their obligations under the FCPA.
