On 01 January 2011, key elements of Amendment No.5 to the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003 ("Amendment No.5") came into force in Jersey. This introduced certain redundancy protection measures, including statutory redundancy pay and the right for employees to have paid time off to look for alternative employment.  

On 12 October 2010, Amendment No.6 to the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003 ("Amendment No.6") was lodged with the States of Jersey. It was debated in States on 01 December 2010 and subsequently adopted on 18 January 2011. In the event that the Amendment No.6 comes into force in its current form, further redundancy related changes to the Law will come into effect.
