The Securities and Exchange Commission adopted draft final rules related to asset-backed securities. In general, these rules require certain standardized information to be provided to investors about the assets underlying some asset-backed securities (such as residential mortgages, commercial mortgages, auto loans and auto leases) and increase the amount of time investors can consider a securitization offering. The new rules are effective 60 days after they are published in the Federal Register. (The SEC issued the final rules in draft form pending a required review at the US Office of Management and Budget.)
