Surveys of the volume of merger and acquisition activity continue to reflect the steep decrease in 2008. The latest survey from mergermarket Ltd. indicated that global merger and acquisition activity in the fourth quarter of 2008 was at a five year low. One notable finding was that deals in the Asia-Pacific region exceed those in North America for the first time.
