It is expected that the Central Bank will shortly publish formalised requirements on corporate governance for insurance undertakings (and credit institutions), following the issue of CP41 in April of this year. It is anticipated that this may occur as early as the end of the first week in November. CP41 has been one of the regulatory 'hot topics' this year and a record number of comments/responses were received by the Central Bank, many of which were focused on the perceived absence of proportionality in some aspects of the paper. It remains to be seen to what extent the views of the industry will be reflected in the guidance.
