On 16 May 2014, EIOPA announced that a "comply or explain" process had commenced regarding its guidelines on complaints handling by insurance intermediaries (published in late 2013). National supervisors must now confirm to EIOPA, within a two month period, whether they comply or intend to comply with the guidelines. If not, reasons must be provided (and may, on a case-by-case basis, be published by EIOPA).
