Mark Weatherford, the chief security officer at North American Electric Reliability Corporation was announced October 20 as the deputy undersecretary for cybersecurity at the Department of Homeland Security.

Ron Bloom, President Obama’s former manufacturing czar, announced October 16 that he will advise the National Association of Letter Carriers as the 280,000 member-union attempts to strike a new multi-year deal with the Postal Service.

Following three months of gridlock on the nomination, the Senate confirmed, 74-26, John Bryson October 20 to be the 37th Secretary of Commerce. The next day, Bruce Andrews, senior Capitol Hill staffer and veteran attorney who currently serves as General Counsel of the Senate Commerce Committee, was named Secretary Bryson’s new chief of staff.
