On 23 February 2009, the Committee of European Securities Regulators published details of its conference. The conference sought to explore what regulatory changes securities supervisors may need to consider in the light of recent events. From a European perspective, it sought to evaluate what more needs to be done to create an integrated Single Market which addresses the needs of retail investors; ensures adequate market transparency in increasingly interdependent global financial markets and addresses effective enforcement across an integrated market.
