David Strachan and Thomas Huertas both spoke at the International Centre for Financial Regulation inaugural conference.
- David Strachan spoke on the regulatory response to G20. He discussed various issues on which the Turner Review and DP focus, in particular the capital package and Basel II and regulatory add-ons to the package. He moved on to discuss the scope of regulation and the need for better international supervisory cooperation. He highlighted the failure of the current EU model using Landsbanki as an example of how depositors in one Member State suffered because of another’s regulatory failures;
- Thomas Huertas looked at the "road to reform". He touched on macro-prudential issues, regulation of significant financial institutions, whether or not currently regulated and the importance of liquidity.
