The Green Alliance, a United Kingdom organization working on attaining environmental solutions, has released a report on carbon capture and storage technology. The report, entitled “A last chance for coal: making carbon capture and storage a reality,” examines how CCS can benefit the UK and the rest of Europe. The report suggests that CCS, if implemented, would bring an increase in jobs and other benefits to the UK and the rest of Europe. In order to implement the technology on a wide scale, the report suggests a commercial size demonstration project is needed first; however, funding for such a project would also be needed. The Green Alliance is pushing the European Parliament for financial support of CCS and a vote is expected tomorrow.
