31 January saw government plans for Britain’s first marine energy park unveiled. The park will be a hub for development of the technology to produce electricity from the sea. Greg Barker, Climate Change Minister, said: “We want to make a centre of world class R&D activity in marine renewables.” Private sector interest is said to include Siemens, Morgan Stanley, Polaris Software, Alstom Group and Saphire Trust. Representatives from the Crown Estate will also be involved.
